So what exactly is a Memory Block?
A Memory Block is a photograph printed straight onto a solid piece of timber. Not paper behind glass, not canvas stretched over a pine frame. The ink goes into the surface of the wood itself, so the grain shows faintly through the lighter parts of the image. Warm rather than glossy. It looks like an object rather than a poster.
The blocks come in real pine and real bamboo, generally around 30 mm thick, in squares, rectangles, hexagons and hearts. Thicker blocks stand on a shelf or mantelpiece without any hardware. Slimmer 15 mm tiles are made to be grouped on a wall. There are also acrylic blocks if you want something crisp and modern, floating frames for larger pieces, and back-lit light blocks.
Because it is timber and UV ink rather than photo paper, a Memory Block will not yellow in sunlight, will not warp in a steamy bathroom, and can be wiped clean. That is the point. A photo you actually live with, instead of one that stays in your phone.

If you have walked past our stand on Level 2 of Westpoint Shopping Centre, you have met us. Memory Block Blacktown is the shopfront. The blocks on display, the samples you can pick up and turn over in your hands. Blacktown Print Studio is the design and printing side of the same business: the part that retouches your photo, lays out the artwork, and runs the UV printer.
It matters because a lot of personalised printing is posted off to a factory somewhere. Ours is not. You can stand at the counter in Blacktown, show us the photo on your phone, and have someone tell you honestly whether it will hold up at 40 cm wide or whether a smaller block would look better. If a photo needs work first, we will say so. And usually we can fix it.
We are a short walk from Blacktown station and easy to reach from across Western Sydney, so people come to us from Seven Hills, Doonside, Quakers Hill, Marayong, Prospect and Mount Druitt as well as Blacktown itself. Orders from further afield across Sydney and NSW are welcome too. Most of those start with a WhatsApp message rather than a visit.

What is a Memory Block?
It is your photo UV printed directly onto a solid block of timber. Usually pine or bamboo, around 30 mm thick. There is no glass and no paper. The ink bonds to the wood surface, so the grain shows through the lighter areas of the image and the result is waterproof, scratch-resistant and fade-resistant. Thicker blocks stand up on their own; slimmer tiles are designed to be grouped on a wall.
Can I get personalised photo blocks made in Blacktown?
Yes. That is the whole business. Come to the counter at Westpoint with the photo on your phone, or send it through on WhatsApp. We design and personalise the artwork ourselves and print it in Blacktown. Nothing is sent to an outside factory.
Can you print photos on pine or bamboo?
Both. Pine has a more open, visible grain and a warmer tone that suits family and wedding photos. Bamboo is tighter, more even and slightly golden. A cleaner, more modern look. They cost within a few dollars of each other, so it comes down to taste. We keep both on display so you can compare them in your hand.
Do you offer photo restoration?
Yes. Faded, creased, torn, water-damaged or low-resolution photos are repaired and colour-corrected by hand. Send it through on WhatsApp or bring the original in and we will tell you honestly what can be recovered before you commit to anything.
Can I order personalised photo gifts in Blacktown?
Yes. Photo puzzles, heart and hexagon blocks, back-lit light blocks, floating frames and gift-size photo blocks are all made to order. If you are shopping for an occasion and are not sure what to pick, tell us who it is for and we will suggest something.
How long does a Memory Block order take?
It depends on the size, the finish and how much design work the photo needs. A straightforward single block is far quicker than a nine-piece wall or a restoration. Message us or drop in and we will give you a firm turnaround before you pay, rather than a guess.
My photo is small or blurry. Is it still usable?
Often, yes. Screenshots, photos saved from social media and old scans can usually be rebuilt to print quality. And where they cannot, a smaller block will still look sharp. Send it to us first and we will tell you which sizes it will hold up at. There is no charge for the honest answer.
Do you only serve Blacktown?
Most of our customers are from Blacktown and the surrounding Western Sydney suburbs, simply because that is where the shop is. But we take orders from anywhere in Sydney and NSW. Those usually start with photos over WhatsApp and a phone conversation about size and finish.
